La Compañia celebrates in the joy of the popular Italian secular song known as the frottola, usually driven by a theme of love, these songs were poetic, rhythmic and danceable in style. The frottola flourished during the Renaissance and were an early influence on the madrigal and the French chanson. On period instruments, early music experts, La Compañia explores the frottola in all their colourful variations. |

The Golden Age of England under the reign of Elizabeth I was a period of great musical innovation and development. Music became increasingly expressive, inventive and refined, and music as a form of entertainment grew to phenomenal heights of popularity. On period instruments, Australia's premiere Renaissance ensemble La Compañia presents a programme of Elizabethan songs and consort music from composers Anthony Holborne and John Dowland, amongst others. |

Flemish musicians set the compositional benchmarks in the early 16th century and Flemish composers, singers and instrumentalists were highly prized throughout Europe. Evocative chansons and lively dances from 16th century Flanders are performed by Renaissance experts La Compañia on their diverse range of period instruments, with music by Cipriano de Rore, Jacques Arcadelt and Adrian Willaert. |

The Spanish and Portuguese colonisation of the Americas produced a wealth of fascinating and beautiful music. The New World was a melting pot of cultures; European compositional techniques and instruments combined with folk melodies and rhythms to create a captivating and exciting music. La Compañia travels from the Iberian Peninsula to the Mexican Baroque to present a program rich in rhythmic and melodic virtuosity. |
