During the Age of Discovery the Portuguese Empire spanned from the Iberian Peninsula to the New World and produced a wealth of beautiful and fascinating music.� La Compa�ia presents music from the renaissance and early baroque, with a program of can��es, vilancicos and motets, with music by Manuel Machado, Pedro de Escobar, Manuel Cardoso & Gaspar Fernandes.

Concert 2
A destination of international repute, Venice during the renaissance was regarded as the metropolis of the music world, attracting the finest composers and musicians. From this famed city, period experts La Compa�ia presents a program of frottole, madrigals and villanelle, with music by Marchetto Cara, Nicola Vincentino, Giovanni Gastoldi and Adrian Willaert.

Concert 3
Under the rule of Philip the Good, the Burgundian court became the centre of late mediaeval civilization, with their stylistic musical innovations influencing much of the Western world. From this court, La Compa�ia presents a program of rondeaux, ballades and virelais, with music by Guillaume Dufay, Gilles Binchois and Antoine Busnois.

Concert 4
The popular Danish King, Christian IV embarked on a mission to internationalize his northern lands, and engaged in a cultural exchange program that created a court rich in musical life. Period instrument ensemble La Compa�ia performs madrigals, songs and dances from this royal court, with music by Mogens Peders�n, William Brade and John Dowland.

Rich in cultural diversity, The Kingdom of Naples flourished during the renaissance and was a major centre for the arts. Join La Compa�ia, Australia�s premier renaissance instrumental ensemble in rediscovering the Neapolitan spirit in a program of villanelle, frottole and tarantelle, with music by Giovanni Domenico da Nola, Vincenzo Fontana amongst others.
